Since opening its doors in 1997, Sushi Katsu-Ya has become one of the most popular and critically acclaimed sushi restaurants in California. Continuously celebrated by the Zagat restaurant guide for the last six years in a row, Sushi Katsu-Ya is the vision and artistry of owner/chef Katsuya Uechi. Born in Okinawa, Japan, Katsuya Uechi began his career as a chef at the Harbor View Hotel in Okinawa. Twenty two years ago he moved to Los Angeles and began a string of chef residencies (including AKIO SUSHI in Thousand Oaks, SEAWARD SUSHI & KABUKI SUSHI in North Ridge.) Katsuya Uechi opened his first Sushi Katsu-Ya location in STUDIO CITY, CA. in 1997.
Although continuously noted as being a favorite among Hollywood's elite, Sushi Katsu-Ya earned its remarkable reputation on the quality and the attention to detail in every dish. The MENU ranges from eclectic specials to premium traditional sushi with various favorites in between. A true originator, Katsuya Uechi continued his unassuming sushi empire by conceptualizing all aspects of KOI restaurant on La Cienega in Los Angeles in 2002.
