Great restaurant!!!
I LOVE THIS PLACE! The food is awesome and the people are very friendly. I highly recommend to anybody who is looking for a true, authentic spanish spot to eat... check this place out!
Having moved from Valencia, Spain eight years ago I finally found an authentic Spanish restaurant in Los Angeles! At last I found real Spanish cuisine. The atmosphere was reminiscent of the restaurants in Spain, truly I felt like I was back home. It made me feel just a little more alive.
To start we ordered a few tapas (apetizers.) Usually is hard for me to order tapas at any other restaurant. The reason is because other Spanish restaurants only serve a few pieces, a tiny appetizer at a high price. At Restaurant Spain, the tapas were like entrees.. I could not believe it, I do not know if it was the wonderful sangria, or if I was just dreaming.
I went to the Restaurant with my great friend from Seville, Senora Angeles Sancho, who is a professor at Cal State Fullerton. She was also impressed about the glorious tapas. The Jamon (ham) was incredible and the boquerones (small fish with garlic, olive oil and spices) were better than being in Cantabria, a city well known for seafood in the north of Spain.
For my entrée I ordered a Zarzuela de Mariscos (Seafood combination,) which is a type of seafood paella but with more sauce. Then the saffron rice comes as a side dish for you to add it into the Zarzuela. It was incredible, the taste, the quantity, the flavors.
My friend Angeles enjoyed Chuletas Rioja, (porkchops with ham, peppers and others ingredients.) Again, the food was delicious and extraordinary.
After dinner, we went to a little area in the restaurant where they sell products from Spain. Authentic Spanish rice so you can prepare your own paella, saffron, and other imported products from my country.
I have to add that every ingredient that I ate, was directly imported from Spain.
To me it made my entire weekend, and probably to my dear friend Angeles. I left full of happiness. Next Sunday for sure I will be back!!!!
Thanks Restaurant Spain!!!
Being just a local boy here in Los Angeles I have had the opportunity to check out the numerous pockets of ethnic culture that makes Los Angeles such a wonderful and fascinating melting pot. At this restaurant and market you will find the very best of Spanish and Argentinian food! Excellently prepared and presented. The menu is extensive and the service is friendly and prompt. Don't be taken aback from the location...this is real Spanish food...which is what this place is all about! don't be surprised if the other diners are all speaking Spanish as this is a "locals" kind of establishment. Sit back and enjoy the Sangria, a nice selection of Spanish wines, and of course...THE FOOD!
Having been raised with Spanish food all of my life I was so happy when my friend brought me to this place! Everything here is about the FOOD! Excellent paella, the seafood zarzuela was out of this world, and the tapas are to die for! Boquerones, small thin fish in olive oil and garlic served on fresh orange slices with lemon and the jamon is what we had as appetizers. Every time I come to the mainland I definitely have to eat here! Service is great and the people are friendly. Besides the Spanish dishes there are also Argentinian dishes that I cannot wait to try! You can also buy items that are imported to take home.
